When massage has a deep tissue focus, it involves long periods of pressure applied at certain points combined with slow, deep strokes to break up scar tissue in your muscles and connective tissues.



When a deep tissue massage begins, the pressure is usually lighter so the muscles can warm up. Once ready, a licensed massage therapist will begin to apply deep pressure and glide their hands along your muscle fibers. This pressure will begin to break up the adhesions in your muscles and release tension.

Deep tissue massage is a powerful treatment method that is great for a variety of conditions. However, deep tissue massage is best suited for people who are highly active and participate in physical activities on a regular basis like sports or working out.
